From Hardcourt Hero to Sporting Icon: Who Is Arwind Santos?

Born June 10th, 1981, in Angeles City, Pampanga, Arwind Santos was introduced early to basketball and sports. He played high school ball at Lubao Institute before moving to FEU Tamaraws, where he impressed both fans and critics. During his legendary UAAP run from 2002 to 2005, Arwind was named a three-time MVP and was 2002’s Rookie of the Year. After college, Arwind immediately went pro and entered the Philippine Basketball League (PBL), where he was a consistent Mythical Five Selection. And in 2006,  he officially entered the Philippine Basketball Association as Air21 Express’ 2nd pick overall.

Santos’ basketball career reached its peak during his stint with San Miguel Beermen (2009-2021). After being traded to the Beermen in 2009, Arwind immediately found his groove and became one of the most exciting players as part of the famed ‘Death 5’. Soon, his achievements started to pile up—9x PBA champion, 2x PBA Finals MVP (2011, 2015), 2x Best Player of the Conference (2011, 2013), and consistent member of the mythical, all-defensive, and PBA All-Star.
